Pelkum is a farming community in the town of Datteln in the Recklinghausen district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Pelkum lies east of the Datteln settlement core. In the north it borders on the Lippe .

Pelkum borders clockwise to the north, beginning with Vinnum (city of Olfen , district of Coesfeld ), Altenbork (city of Selm , district of Unna ), Unterlippe (city of Waltrop , district of Recklinghausen) and Datteln.
history
The farmers have always belonged to the community of Datteln. With effect from January 1, 2009, the city districts were reorganized. The urban district (peasantry) Pelkum has the district number 260. On July 31, 2013 148 inhabitants lived there.

The district road K 12 (Markfelder Strasse) leads through Pelkum . This leads over the Waltrop farmers' associations Unterlippe and Oberlippe (with the Dortmund Rieselfeldern ) to Elmenhorst , which also belongs to Waltrop. From this road, the district road K 2 branches off in a northerly direction to Vinnum, Selm, Nordkirchen and Ottmarsbocholt .
At the western edge of the peasantry, the Wesel-Datteln- meets the Dortmund-Ems canal , which splits north of the meeting into the disused Alte Fahrt and the operated Neue Fahrt . The Datteln-Hamm Canal is located to the south a little outside of the farming community.
