PAX Prime

Development of visitor numbers PAX Prime and East (as of 2012)

Originally simply called PAX , the event was the first in the series in August 2004. It took place at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue (Washington) and reached around 3300 visitors. In the two years that followed, this number grew rapidly to initially 9,000 and then to 19,000 visitors. Due to the rapidly increasing size of the event, the Washington State Convention Center, twice as large, was chosen as the new home for 2007 , where the fair takes place annually until today. The number of visitors increased further to over 60,000 by 2009.

PAX East

In March 2010 the PAX East took place for the first time in the Hynes Convention Center in Boston . With over 52,000 visitors, the offshoot immediately reached almost the size of the original in Washington, which since then has been nicknamed Prime for the sake of distinctness . In 2011 PAX East moved to the larger Boston Convention and Exhibition Center .

PAX Dev

For the first time in 2011, the special PAX Dev event took place on the two days before PAX Prime. It is reserved exclusively for game developers. Here they can speak freely and exchange ideas without the press.
