Pentland is a settlement in the northwest of the Australian state of Queensland . It is located about 200 kilometers southwest of Townsville on the Flinders Highway , the next largest towns to the east and west are Charters Towers and Hughenden . The place has about 300 inhabitants.
To the east, a short section of the Campaspe River flows through Pentland. To the west is the White Mountains National Park . The Cape River has its source in the municipality. In the south is the salt lake Lake Buchanan .
history
On October 7, 1884, the Bett's Creek Post Office opened. In 1885 it was renamed Pentland .
In 2013, the Australian federal government provided a budget to assess the country's suitability for growing sugar cane and processing it into ethanol .
