Per-Axel Arosenius

Per-Axel Arosenius (born November 7, 1920 - March 21, 1981 ) was a Swedish actor . His most famous role was that of defector Kuzenov in Alfred Hitchcock's Topaz .

Life

Per Axel Arosenius made his film debut in 1941. He had his first major supporting role in 1948 in Lång-Lasse i Delsbo . He continued to play smaller roles, such as a friend of the Count in Alf Sjöberg's Miss Julie . In 1968 he was hired by Alfred Hitchcock for the role of the Soviet defector Boris Kuzenov in Topas . His career got a boost and he got bigger roles. So he played the heroine's father in Thriller - a ruthless film . The pay for his role in Topaz was less than the tax authorities could imagine. A higher fee had been negotiated than it was then paid. Arosenius got into a protracted legal dispute that lasted several years with the authorities. On March 21, 1981, he poured gasoline on himself in front of the tax office in Nacka and set it on fire. He died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Two hours earlier he had called and threatened suicide if a residual tax of 7,000 Swedish kronor had not been waived.
