action
The young Frigga grows up on a farm. She has been dumb since she was abused by a sex offender as a child. One day, when a hitchhiker takes her into town, the naive girl follows him to his apartment. Tony drugs her, keeps her captive and forces her to prostitution. Tony writes a suicide note to Frigga's parents on their behalf, making them believe that Frigga has turned away from them because she wants to escape the loneliness of the secluded courtyard. The father then loses all courage to face life and kills his wife and himself. At first Frigga rebels, but her increasing heroin addiction as well as brutal punishments - when she scratches the face of a suitor, Tony stabs her eye - lead her to accept her fate at first. However, when she learns of her parents' death and only finds a blood-soaked sheet from her best friend in the brothel, she swears bitter revenge on her tormentors.
She takes martial arts, shooting and driving lessons and gets enough weapons, including a sawed-off shotgun. In the final showdown, she gradually kills her suitors as well as her pimp Tony and his henchman, but two police officers and uninvolved motorists are also killed in their campaign of revenge.
background
The film is one of the few films that was completely banned by the Swedish censors in its original version ( swe. Totalförbjuden). In order to obtain approval, the film had to be censored for several scenes, as documented by the recordings of the Swedish Film Institute. In total, more than 700 meters of film had to be removed in order to obtain a 15-year-old clearance ( swe. Tillåten från 15 år), which is the highest rating in Sweden. The first completely uncut version worldwide is the limited edition of Synapse films released on September 28, 2004 . This version contains all violence and pornography scenes.
Trivia
- According to a statement made in an interview by Christina Lindberg, a real corpse was used for the scene in which Frigga's eye is removed with the scalpel.
- In the United States , the film had its world premiere on June 5, 1974 under the title They call her One Eye , later double features were shown under the title A Hooker's Revenge in the infamous Grindhouse cinemas. But even in the USA only a shortened version could be performed, however only 510 meters of film had to be cut in contrast to the Swedish theatrical version .
- It is not known which cuts the German cinema version had to undergo. The German premiere was on March 20, 1975, Pilot Filmverleih .
- In 2004 Synapse Films released the controversial thriller - a ruthless film on DVD . The release of the film was no less controversial than the film itself. The director Bo Arne Vibenius claimed that Synapse films had stolen the film from him and wrote threatening letters, e-mails and faxes under false names. 2002 bought Synapse films of Chrome Entertainment , the worldwide distribution rights for $ 10,000. The reasons why Vibenius took action against the DVD label are unknown.
