biography

Fossum was a versatile athlete. As a teenager he began with ski jumping and Nordic combined. In the mid-1930s, when alpine ski racing was formed in Norway, he concentrated more on its disciplines. He also competed in football, athletics and orienteering.

In 1936

Between 1935 and 1939 he took part in all Alpine World Ski Championships . His best result was a fourth place at the 1937 World Cup in Chamonix. At the Olympic Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where alpine competitions were on the program for the first time, he was a member of the Norwegian team and finished 9th in the combined ranking.
