Per Petterson
Per Petterson (born July 18, 1952 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian writer . He is now internationally recognized as the "novelist of Norwegian Weltschmerz".
Life
Per Petterson, a trained librarian , worked as a bookseller, translator and literary critic before devoting himself entirely to writing.
His novel Is already in order ( Det er greit for meg ) was awarded the Språklig samlings litteraturpris in 1992 . His book Sehnsucht nach Sibirien ( Til Sibir ) was nominated for the Literature Prize of the Nordic Council in 1997; In 2007 Petterson received the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, endowed with 100,000 euros, for stealing horses ( Ut og stjæle hester ) .
His novel Men in My Situation (2019), the seventh he translated into German, is an unusual, border-crossing divorce novel that emotionally transports a "meltdown of anger and despair, guilt and disappointment, powerlessness and hatred, desire for destruction and loneliness".
