Pere Puigserver i Burguera

Pere Puigserver i Burguera (* 1965 in Campos ) is a Spanish biochemist .

Life

Born on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca , he studied biology and biochemistry at the Universitat de les Illes Baleares and received a PhD in biochemistry. He conducted research in the field of physiology at Stockholm University . At the Children's Hospital of Harvard Medical School and at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute , he worked on cardiology and at the Harvard Medical School on cell biology . This was followed by research at the Department of Cell Biology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore , USA .

His research is particularly concerned with mechanisms in cells related to insulin and factors that enable cells to survive. In addition, he deals with hormonal and nutritional influences on the process of aging and the healing of metabolic diseases such as diabetes , obesity and diseases of the cardiovascular system. He is looking for ways to delay the aging process and the associated diseases of old age .

He is married to the biologist Francisca Vázquez i Servera (* 1970), who works with a research team.
