Peremyschl Moskovsky

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peremyschl Moskowski (Russian Перемышль ) was a castle town and settlement from the 14th to 18th centuries near Podolsk in Russia .

It was located on the right bank of the Motscha River near the present-day village of Dmitrovo in the Podolsk district of Moscow Oblast .

The city was first mentioned in 1339. Archaeological excavations confirmed a possible foundation at this time. From 1410 to 1427 it was the center of a partial principality. After that, the city quickly lost its importance to the neighboring monastery.

Since 1480 Peremyschl belonged to the Grand Duchy of Moscow , which is why it was nicknamed Moskovsky. The nickname should distinguish the city from other cities of the Rus with this name (Peremyschl near Kaluga and Peremyschl in Galicia, today Przemyśl in Poland).

In the 17th century, Peremyschl Moskowski was only referred to as Gorodishche ( Wallburg ) in the chronicles and was no longer mentioned afterwards.

Remarks

  1. There is no evidence in ancient Russian chronicles of an alleged foundation by Yuri Dolgoruki in 1152. Archaeological finds also do not exist for this time. The Russian scholar Vasily Tatishchev had claimed this in the 18th century without verifiable historical sources.
