Perfect World ( Chinese  完美世界 wanmei shijie "Perfect World") is a Chinese 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from the developer of the same name, Perfect World. In Europe it is primarily known as Perfect World International .

development

In January 2006, the game Perfect World was released in China . It is funded by fees that allow the player to access the game for a period of time. In November 2006 they released Perfect World II , a modification of the original Perfect World , which is financed by the sale of in-game items. This game is now accessible free of charge and free of charge, within the game there is the possibility to purchase virtual items by using real money. Perfect World II is the first game of the company for which licenses were sold abroad, and thus also the version that is known in Europe.

In September 2007 the English version of Perfect World Malaysia was published, which made it possible for international players to play the game in English for the first time. Since September 2008 the game has been known in North America and Europe as Perfect World International and is made available in English and on North American servers. Since July 2011 there is also a German and a French language version of the game for Europe, each with its own server.

The individual language versions are not all on the same level in terms of content. After new game content has been implemented in the Chinese version of Perfect World II , it is passed on to the relevant companies for further processing and processed there for publication. This results in different publication dates for improvements and, above all, extensions.

Game world

The fictional world of Perfect World draws heavily on Pangu from Chinese mythology. Pangu, the first god of the universe, created a new world by dividing his body into the five elements metal, wood, earth, water and fire and forming air, land, mountains, rivers, lakes and plants from them. Eventually he created the three races of humans, the chimeras and the diaper, which eventually created Perfect World . With the expansion Rising Tide the race of the sea children was added, with Genesis the earth guardians followed.

Each of the five races has its own capital. The humans inhabit the city of Aetherblade , the diaper elves Rovalia , the chimeras the city of the lost , the children of the sea the city of the Raging Tides and the earth guardians Tellus . The hub of the world is the city of Archosaur , in which all five races meet for the first time during the course of the game, as well as important contact persons and workshops. In addition to the big cities, there are numerous villages, other cities and temples, as well as several instances .

The three-dimensional game world shows the change between day and night, as well as various weather phenomena. You generally control your character from the perspective of the pursuer. You can not only move between the individual cities and areas on foot, but also via teleport. From the beginning, diapers have the ability to fly, the other races receive a temporary aircraft at level 15 and a permanent one at level 30. There is also the possibility to purchase mounts. In addition to the characters of other players, with whom various interactions can be carried out, there are also so-called non-player characters with whom interactions such as conversations and trade are possible.

The game

It all starts with the choice of server . You can not only choose between different locations, but also between PvE ( Player versus Environment ) and PvP ( Player versus Player ).

This is followed by the creation of a character, also called an avatar . A special feature of Perfect World is that the figure can be designed down to the smallest detail. Not only can you choose between different, partly breed-specific hairstyles, but even the individual facial attributes and proportions can be designed individually. Furthermore, hair, eye and skin color can be freely selected and the body proportions can be adjusted to your own ideas using controls.

After entering the game, you begin to perform various tasks with your character. The tasks can include talking or running errands, killing monsters or collecting items. After successfully completing a task, you receive play money (coins), experience points, NOx and items. Coins are required for any purchase activity within the game world, be it with non-player characters or other players. If you have collected enough experience points, the figure goes up one level. In addition to coins, Nox (Spirit) is needed above all so that your own character can learn special skills. These skills differ by race and class.

In addition to the normal tasks that take the player from one area to the next, there are various special task groups. So you have to fulfill certain tasks in order to train the figure spiritually and to learn other skills. There are also so-called "Call of Duty" tasks, which lead the player from level 19 onwards in different instances.

Crafts

  • Blacksmith (weapons)
  • Tailor (armor)
  • Craftsman (necklaces, belts, rings)
  • Pharmacist (medicines and spells)

For the production of the individual items you need different materials that can be collected or found on killed monsters.

Factions

The players have the opportunity to join forces in so-called factions. To found a faction, the founding pawn must be at least level 20, and a fee of 100,000 coins must be paid. Depending on the faction level, a certain number of players can be invited to the faction.

The advantage of a faction is that players with figures of higher level can help other players to defeat difficult opponents. Looking for helpers outside of a faction can often take a long time. In addition, items are often offered cheaper or even given away within a faction.

Each faction also has the opportunity to take part in the Territory Wars. The world of "Perfect World" is divided into individual territories that can be fought for. In order to be able to conquer an area, a bid in the form of coins must first be submitted, the faction with the highest bid receives the bid and is allowed to declare war on the corresponding area. The victorious faction receives the area and the faction name is briefly displayed within the game together with the area name.
