Perham Wilhelm Nahl also Perham W. Nahl or Perham Nahl (born January 11, 1869 in San Francisco , California , USA ; † 1935 in Berkeley , California, USA) was an American engraver , painter , lithographer and illustrator of the late 19th century. and the early 20th century to 1935 as well as teacher at an art school. He came from the artist family Nahl and was the son of Hugo Wilhelm Arthur Nahl (* 1833; † 1889), the younger of the two Nahl Brothers .

Life

Perham began his art studies with his father Arthur and his uncle Charles Christian Nahl and continued it from 1899-1906 at the Mark Hopkins Institute . When the earthquake and the great fire destroyed most of San Francisco in 1906, he went to Europe and studied in Paris and Munich ( Heymann Academy). Perham Nahl won many prizes for his artistic work. After his return to California in 1907 he taught art technology and anatomy at the University of California and for 20 years at the California College of the Arts , which he himself co-founded.
