Perizoma group
Under the name perizoma group ( English Perizoma Group ) are the works of a group Attic - black-figure vase painters of the late v 6th century. Summarized . John D. Beazley counted the Michigan Painter , the Beaune Painter and the Vatican Group G 58 to this group .
The perizoma group got its name after the loincloths ( perizoma ) that many of the figures, athletes, arms dancers and symposiasts depicted on the group's vases wear. The drawings by the painters in the group are considered very distinctive. The figures, especially the athletes, seem quite powerless. In addition to numerous stamnoi , the forms of the group also include single-handled kantharoi , which are reminiscent of Etruscan forms and were therefore intended for export.
