Perjatsi is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Vaivara ( Vaivara vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has 57 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It is located east of Sillamäe , in close proximity to the Baltic Sea .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1498. Like the other villages in the area, Perjatsi developed into a popular excursion destination from the middle of the 19th century. Townspeople discovered the Baltic Sea coast for summer vacation . Numerous summer houses were built. Even in the 1920s, several hundred summer guests populated the beach area near Perjatsi every year.
