From 1498 the manor of Laagna was run under the name Kuydenurm . In 1661 it was called Lagena . In 1631 Field Marshal Hermann von Wrangel (1587–1643) was enfeoffed with the estate because of his services. In 1657 the manor burned down during the Russian-Swedish war . Three years later, Bernhard Johann von Wrangell had it rebuilt. Later it fell to the Swedish crown.

After the conquest of the Baltic states by Russia Tsarina was Catherine I the good of the family Wrangel back. In June and July 1764, Tsarina Catherine II stayed twice on the estate.

Laagna later became the owner of the noble Baltic German families Maydell , Sievers (from 1760) and Hermansberg (from 1791).

In 1919 the estate was expropriated as part of the Estonian land reform . The state donated it to August Raudsoo, who had made a name for himself in the Estonian War of Independence .

The historical buildings of the estate are only preserved today as ruins.

Estonian War of Independence

On January 18, 1919, during the Estonian War of Freedom near Laagna, there was a battle between Estonian troops and Finnish volunteers on the one hand and Soviet Russian unions on the other.

The Estonians were able to recapture the place in the course of the surprise attack. The military action began the Estonian conquest of the Bolshevik- held city of Narva a day later.
