The Tõrvajõe waterfall

Tõrvajõe is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality of Vaivara ( Vaivara vald ). It is located in Ida-Viru County ( East Wierland ) in northeast Estonia .

Description and history

The village has 31 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It is located on the trunk road between the Estonian capital Tallinn and the Russian metropolis Saint Petersburg .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1428.

The 16 km long Tõrvajõgi stream flows through it and flows into the Narva River ( Narva jõgi ).

The Tõrvajõe waterfall ( Tõrvajõe juga ) is popular with nature lovers . The creek falls about two and a half meters over a length of five to six meters. In some summers there is no natural spectacle due to lack of water.
