Perneb is the name of an early Egyptian priest and son of a king who lived and worked at the beginning of the 2nd dynasty .

To person

Perneb's name appears on jar seals from gallery grave B under the path to the Unas pyramid in Saqqara , which is assigned to the kings Hetepsechemui and Nebre alike. Therefore it cannot be determined exactly whether Perneb was the son of Hetepsechemui or Nebre. His grave is unknown.

Perneb bears a title that was very rare for the early days: he was the priest of Sopdu . Its cult center at that time was probably in the eastern Nile Delta near a city that is called "Iptiu" on the clay seals. So far, the place could not be localized geographically .
