Perth-Andover is the administrative seat in Victoria County in the Canadian province of New Brunswick with 1778 inhabitants (2011), who mainly speak English .

geography

The connecting roads New Brunswick Route 109 and New Brunswick Route 130 meet in Perth-Andover . The New Brunswick Route 2 touches the place in the west. Grand Falls and Plaster Rock are approximately 30 kilometers to the north and northeast, respectively. Florenceville-Bristol is 25 miles south. The border with the US state of Maine is only five miles west of the city center. The Saint John River flows through the middle of Perth-Andover .

history

On the east side of the Saint John River settled in the 19th century Scottish settlers down and called the place based on your home town Perth also Perth . The western side of the river was by people from England settled that in honor of their hometown this place Andover also now Andover called. From 1885 a wooden bridge connected the two places, which was replaced by a steel structure in 1958. In 1996 both districts were united under the name Perth-Andover to form the administrative seat of Victoria County.

In the spring of 1987 and 2012 there was considerable damage to the place, each of which resulted from a huge ice accumulation of the Saint John River with the resulting flooding.

Perth-Andover hosts the Gathering of the Scots Festival each year and the Larlee Creek Hullabaloo Music Festival , both of which are held at Baird's Campground .
