Perutnina Ptuj is a poultry producer from Slovenia based in Ptuj . The company employs around 3700 people and has seven production plants (in Slovenia, Croatia , Serbia , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) and three trading companies (in Austria , Romania and Macedonia ). It farms 4000 hectares.
history
In 1905 Valentin Reinhard from Styria opened a buy-back station for poultry in Ptuj. In 1930 the Reinhard company began trading poultry, eggs and game throughout the Kingdom of Yugoslavia . In 1935, the Reinhard Company exported goods worth 14 million dinars . In 1939, Hinko Škerget from Maribor took over the management.
In 1960 the construction of the first own poultry farms began. In 1966, Perutnina was renamed Mesokombinat Perutnina Ptuj and organized into seven business units and joint services, and the Hajdina Agricultural Cooperative was founded, which became a cooperative facility.
In 1974 Perutnina produced the first cooked chicken sausage. The first edition of the Ptujski Poultryman newspaper was published in 1977. The Trnovci farm hosted 46,000 locations for the first time. In 1980 the business center in Ptuj was established. In 1989, Groudon Plue Koketas were brought out of production.
In 1992 Roman Glaser was appointed president of the Perutnina Ptuj company. The Perutninska zadruga Ptuj cooperative was established.
In the course of the ownership conversion, Perutnina Ptuj changed from a socially owned company to a joint stock company in 1997. The General Director of Perutnina Ptuj, Roman Glaser, received recognition from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia for special achievements in the development of the economy and for Perutnina Ptuj. In Nova Gorica and Maribor the company organized symposia on nutrition in the modern lifestyle. The slaughterhouse for large animals has been modernized. Perutnina Ptuj opened a new sales and storage center in Ljubljana .
The Slovenian President Milan Kučan opened the processing plant in Perutnina in 2000, the most important part of the company for the manufacture of poultry products. Perutnina Ptuj and Agrokomerc Velika Kladuša signed an agreement to establish the Perutnina Agrokomerc joint venture .
Perutnina Ptuj took over Kmetijski Kombat Ptuj in 2002 and became the largest agricultural company in the country. The joint venture Perutnina Ptuj doo BH Sarajevo started operations in Sarajevo in 2004 . In 2006 the company had almost 2,400 employees. In 2008 Perutnina Austria GmbH was founded.
Perutnina Ptuj founded a company in Macedonia in 2010 and opened a food production line in Čakovec . PP Topiko Bačka Topola introduced a vertical reproduction process after the takeover by Perutnina Ptuj and also became one of the ten largest Slovenian investors in Serbia. In 2012 the company invested in drying and transport capacities at PP Agro. In 2015, SIJ increased its capital by 40 million euros. It is one of the largest food manufacturers in Southeast Europe. In September 2018 it was announced that Perutnina Ptuj would be taken over by the agro-group MHP SE, headquartered in Ukraine. The takeover was confirmed internally on March 1, 2019.
Cycling team Perutnina Ptuj
The Perutnina Ptuj cycling team was founded in 1997 under the name KRKA-Telekom Slovenije. In 2002 it went under the name Perutnina Ptuj-KRKA Telekom . From 2003 the company was the sole sponsor.
