The Pestalozzi School is a primary and secondary school in Hameln . It was founded in November 1952. Approximately 450 students are currently being taught here.
history
founding
When in 1952 the Ostertorwallschule had to move out of its old buildings between Thiemanns Hotel, the credit bank and Bungelosenstrasse due to a lack of space, 849 students and 19 teachers were relocated to the new school building at Lohhof in the northern part of Hamelin. At the inauguration ceremony on November 5, 1952, City Director Wilke baptized the school with the name Pestalozzi School: "This new school should be more than a teaching institution, according to the demands of its namesake, the child should grow into a person, a Christian and a citizen."

primary school
Since the school year 2000/2001, the primary school branch of the Pestalozzi School has been run as a primary school. With the start of the 2015/16 school year, the primary school area is also an open all-day school . The primary school branch of the Pestalozzi School has been consistently run in two classes for many years. The number of students in the individual classes varies between 18 and 25 children. A cooperation with the Kielhorn School Hameln entered its 18th year at the beginning of the 2016/17 school year.
Hauptschule and Oberschule
In 2004 the school became an all-day school for grades 5 to 10. The school was redesigned for this purpose. It has a library, a well-equipped cafeteria and a large leisure area. The Pestalozzi School has been a high school since the beginning of the 2011/12 school year.
degrees
The secondary school is basically designed for grades 5 to 10. In grades 9 and 10, the pupils choose whether they want to take part in cooperative lessons with the vocational schools or in profile lessons. In cooperation lessons, in addition to the general qualification, a certificate from the vocational school (content of the 1st year of training) is acquired. The profile lessons take place on a higher level and are supplemented by a project or involvement in the student company. The secondary qualifications I are possible with the choice of cooperative as well as profile lessons.
