Pete Coors

Pete Coors (born September 20, 1946 in Golden , Colorado ) is an American entrepreneur and conservative politician.

As the great-grandson of Adolph Kuhrs (1847–1929), Coors is one of the heirs of the Molson Coors Brewing Company . Until 2011 he served as chairman of the board.

Coors graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and received an engineering degree from Cornell University . He received his MBA from the University of Denver in 1970 . The Johnson & Wales University awarded him an honorary doctorate .

In 2004, Coors ran for a seat in the United States Senate in Colorado . Within the Republican Party he won the primary to succeed Ben Nighthorse Campbell against Bob Schaffer , but then he lost the actual election against the Democrat Ken Salazar with 47:51 percent of the vote.

Coors is married and has six children.
