Peter Martin "Pete" Eberling (born April 19, 1952 in Vienna , † June 24, 2007 in Tarzana , California ) was an American speed skater .

Born in Austria, Eberling was mainly successful in the United States. There he was runner-up in the national indoor championships in 1964 and 1965, and in 1966 he won bronze. He was first noticed internationally in 1972 when he completed the 500 meters in 38.8 seconds in a competition in Innsbruck . In the World Cup ranking, he achieved a top ten placement this season. These results qualified him for the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo , Japan, where he finished eleventh over 500 meters. At the sprint world championships he managed a 20th place. After that, Eberling mainly took part in national competitions in the United States.

Eberling was a member of the US Navy . He died of an ulcer in 2007 at the age of 55 .
