Peter Michael Haas (born September 14, 1951 in Berlin ) is a German accordionist and music teacher . He is a member of several jazz and world music formations and performs as a soloist and accompanist for singers and as a theater musician. Under his leadership, textbooks were created, mainly for the accordion.

Life

From the age of six he learned to play the piano from his father. After graduating from Rheingau grammar school in 1970, he began studying mathematics and computer science at the TU Berlin . He also played piano and keyboard in bars in Berlin. In 1974 he broke off his studies in order to be able to focus more on music.

In 1976, Haas founded a shared flat for musicians in Berlin-Neukölln , before setting up a private piano practice in Berlin in 1977. In 1979 he began to write his first music textbook "Rock Music Piano School". He was also a member of various bands, the Berlin big band "Riff" and the band "Munju" in Würzburg. In 1984 he took further piano lessons from Claudio Arrau Irmelin Jättkowski's student.

He started playing the accordion in the 1980s. He had his first major appearances as an accordion player for incidental music in the Berlin Zan Pollo Theater (1986) and in the children's and youth theater Rote Grütze (1989). Now mainly accordion player, he founded the Duo Milonga with the violinist Daniel Friedrichs in 1990 and has been playing in the Duo Vaci Utca with the violinist M. Fritsch in Berlin since 1994 , has often accompanied the Berlin singer of Jewish songs Karsten Troyke as a soloist since 1996 and founded the trio in 1997 New tango with the violinist A. Sur and the cellist Elena Sudtnitsina. Since 2003 Haas has appeared as an accordionist in a jazz duo or trio with saxophonist Gerd Dallmann. Since 2014 he has accompanied the singer René Figueroa as an accordionist.

In 2000, the AMA Verlag published Haas' first accordion textbook "Spiel Akkordeon"; more textbooks followed. In 2011 the CD Muschelsucher was released .

Since 2007 Haas has been conducting day and multi-day accordion workshops in Germany as a course instructor.

Since it was founded in 2008, Haas has regularly published music pedagogical articles in the magazine “Akkordeon-Magazin” (Cologne Publishing Agency). Since 2015 he has been a senior member of the editorial board of "Akkordeon-Magazin".
