The Peter-Zincke-Stift is a listed retirement home in the Magdeburg district of Sudenburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

The building is located on the west side of Hesekielstraße at the address Hesekielstraße 7a .

Architecture and history

In total, the old people's home on Hesekielstrasse has 32 window axes and is thus formative for the street scene. The oldest part of the building was built in 1864/65 and was intended to serve as a nursing home for the sick and the elderly. The funds for the construction came from the foundation established in 1850 by the Sudenburg-based farmer Peter Zincke, who was also a councilor there.

A two- to three- story brick building was built . The simple facade has neo-Gothic elements and is characterized by flat risalits and gables . The window openings are spanned by simple segmented or pointed arches. First of all, the two-story building with a central projection was built. In 1898 a three-storey building with a side projection and courtyard wing was added. About 30 new rooms were created. The facade structure of this part is designed somewhat more elaborately. This extension was already expanded in 1901/02.

The building is a typical example of a simply designed institutional building. As an example of private charity in the period of industrialization, it is also considered to be of social and historical importance.

The building is currently (as of 2016) operated by Wohnen und Pflege Magdeburg gGmbH, which is owned by the city of Magdeburg, as a nursing home with 92 places.

In the local register of monuments , the old people's home is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 81841 .
