Peter Ambrovič

Peter Ambrovič (born December 23, 1939 in Bratislava , then Slovak State ; † August 21, 2019 ) was a chemist and diplomat from Slovakia .

Career

Ambrovič graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava (SVŠT). During his studies in the United States (1970–1971) and Germany (1990–1991) he continued his education in chemistry .

He spent much of his life researching at the Institute for Polymers of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where he was promoted to director of the academy. After several years as Director of the Secretariat of the President of the Slovak Republic in the Presidential Office.

In May 1995 Peter Ambrovič took up the post as Slovak ambassador to Indonesia . He was the first ambassador of his country to the Southeast Asian state. Based in Jakarta , Ambrovič had additional accreditations as ambassador for Brunei , Malaysia , the Philippines and Singapore . Ambrovič's tenure in Southeast Asia ended in May 1998 and he returned to the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

Ambrovič passed away in 2019. The funeral service took place on September 2, 2019 in the crematorium of his native Bratislava.
