Peter Anreiter
Peter Anreiter (born January 24, 1954 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian name researcher and professor of linguistics at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck .
Life
In his research Anreiter deals with onomastics , mainland celtology, Indo-European antiquity and patholinguistics . He is also the head of the Tyrolean Nomenclature Commission and a member of the organizing committee “Kals onomatological symposium” . On the international project "Lesachtal - Tiroler Gailtal - Comelico - Sappada (Pladen): Linguistic, naming and folklore aspects" he works together with the Fondazione Angelini ( Belluno ) and the Institute for Linguistics of the University of Klagenfurt . He is also involved in the international Celtological project "PTOLEMY: Towards a Linguistic Atlas of the Earliest Celtic Place-names of Europe" under the direction of Patrick Sims-Williams from Aberystwyth University in Wales .
On May 17, 2010 Anreiter was awarded the Henning Kaufmann Prize , which is considered the highest honor in the field of onomastics.
