Peter Anton Cortsen
Peter Anton Cortsen (often PA Cortsen for short ; * July 31, 1845 in Copenhagen ; † November 2, 1912 there ) was a Danish ship carpenter and architect .
Life
Peter Anton Cortsen was born to Henning Cortsen and his wife Grethe Pedersdatter. On February 15, 1878 he married Ellen Dorthea Sophia Hannemann (1838–1908). Very little is known about his life. He mainly worked as a ship carpenter for Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel (KGH). From 1903 he designed several state buildings in almost all cities in Greenland , mainly residential buildings, but also hospitals of the old church in Tasiilaq . This made him the first architect to work across the board for Greenland. He died on November 2, 1912 at the age of 67. Helge Bojsen-Møller , who designed a Greenlandic building for the first time in 1909, began in 1913 to design Greenlandic commercial, church and school buildings on a grand scale and can therefore be seen as the successor to Peter Anton Cortsen.
