Peter Shaw Ashton
Peter Shaw Ashton (born June 27, 1934 in Boscombe , England ) is a British forest scientist and university professor . He researches the tropical rainforests of Asia, especially their wing fruit family (Dipterocarpaceae).
Life
Ashton was, among other things, director of the Arnold Arboretum at Harvard University , president of the International Association of Botanical Gardens , a senior position at the US environmental organization The Nature Conservancy and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences as well the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
