On his return he studied painting from 1946 to 1950 in the master class with Boris Kleint at the State School for Art and Crafts in Saarbrücken . In 1952/1953 he was able to study at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris with a scholarship . In 1952 he had his first exhibition as part of the “Gruppe Keint” in the Saarland Museum.

In 1960 Barrois married Gertrud Treitz, the sister of the sculptor Hans Treitz, and moved to Saarbrücken. Here he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In 1978 the family moved to Erlenbach near Marktheidfeld, where Barrois died in 1988.
