Jamaal Rashaad Jones Charles (* 27. December 1986 in Port Arthur , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played nine years for the Kansas City Chiefs and one season each for the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars as running back .
college
Charles attended the University of Texas at Austin and not only played for their team, the Longhorns, college football , but was also part of the athletics team, where he also celebrated numerous successes on the short distance . In the first year he was able to win the state championship with the Longhorns . Further titles and numerous personal awards followed.
NFL
Kansas City Chiefs (2008-2016)
In the 2008 NFL Draft , he was selected in the third round by the Kansas City Chiefs . He was already used regularly in his rookie year. While his yield with 357 run and 272 yards in the passing game was not particularly impressive on a touchdown , his average of 5.3 yards per run attempt was outstanding. With the exception of the 2011 season, when he was only able to play two games due to an injury to the cruciate ligament , he ran over 1,000 yards every year thereafter until 2014.
He holds a number of franchise records and has been nominated to the Pro Bowl four times . In the summer of 2014 he signed a new two-year contract in the amount of 18.1 million US dollars and was thus one of the highest-paid running backs in the league.
Charles was released into the Free Agency by the Chiefs on February 28, 2017 .
Denver Broncos (2017)
On May 2, 2017 Charles signed a one-year contract with the Denver Broncos with a content of up to 3.75 million US dollars .
In 14 games he was able to run 296 yards and achieve a touchdown. After the season ended, his contract was no longer renewed.
Jacksonville Jaguars (2018)
After the fifth match day of the 2018 season , the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Charles for a year, his engagement was related to numerous injuries in the Jaguars team in the running back position.
On May 1, 2019, he announced his resignation. He had received a contract from the Chiefs for that one day so that he could say goodbye to active sport as a member of this team.
