Peter Bend

Peter Beuge (born April 11, 1938 in Sorau , Lower Silesia Province ; † June 21, 2001 in Freiberg ) was a German mineralogist and university professor .

Life

Peter Beuge was born in Sorau in Lower Silesia. He spent his childhood and school days in Grimmen , where he graduated from high school in 1957. He then studied mineralogy at the Bergakademie Freiberg , graduating in 1962. In the same year he got a position as a research assistant in the VEB Geological Research and Exploration (GFE) Freiberg. From 1963 to 1965 he did his military service with the NVA .

From September 1, 1965, Peter Beuge worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Mineralogy and Deposits Science at the Bergakademie Freiberg. After the Third University Reform of the GDR in 1968, his sphere of activity was the newly established Geosciences Section, Geochemistry / Mineralogy Working Group. In 1970 he became deputy head and a short time later acting head of the working group. In 1974 he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1976 he became a senior scientific assistant and was also responsible for teaching education / training / continuing education in the geosciences section.

In the 1980s, Peter Beuge worked several times abroad, including a. in Syria , the Soviet Union and in Czechoslovakia . From 1988 to 1990 he worked as a lecturer at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo . In 1989 he completed his PhD B at the Bergakademie Freiberg , which was recognized as a habilitation in 1991 . On June 1, 1992 he was appointed professor of geochemistry.

Peter Beuge died in Freiberg at the age of 63. His grave is in the Donatsfriedhof .
