Peter Bircks

Peter Bircks (born August 2, 1952 in Rennertshofen ; † November 2, 2018 in Augsburg ) was a German business economist and soccer professional .

Life

Bircks grew up in Rennertshofen and lived in Thierhaupten . He started working as a coach at FC Rennertshofen in 1977; from 1979 he took over the management of the football department there for eleven years.

In 1990 Bircks was elected President of FC Augsburg . From 1996 to 2000 he served as an honorary councilor . Bircks was chairman of the supervisory board of FC Augsburg e. V. In 2012, he also took on the position of Managing Director of Finance at FC Augsburg GmbH & Co. KGaA .

During Bircks' tenure, the FCA was able to record numerous sporting and economic successes. His statements about the rival 1860 Munich caused a sensation ("We were already a cosmopolitan city, they were still jumping around in bearskins!") And the journalist Robert Götz from Augsburger Allgemeine in connection with the debate about the secondary ticket market provider Viagogo; his column is "unspeakable", "a bottomless cheek", "transparent and pathetic".

Peter Bircks was the managing partner of the finance and investment consultancy Secuwert GmbH. In 2014, Bircks was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for many years of volunteer work in all things football.

Peter Bircks was hit by a car as a pedestrian on October 24, 2018 in Gersthofen and seriously injured. He died on November 2, 2018 at the age of 66 in the Augsburg Clinic from the consequences of the injury.
