Peter Brommer (classical philologist)

Peter Brommer (born July 22, 1892 in Driebergen , † September 14, 1982 in Velsen-Zuid ) was a Dutch classical philologist and grammar school director.

Life

After completing his studies, Brommer worked from 1915 to 1916 as a high school teacher in Utrecht . After his service in the First World War , he went to the high school in Alkmaar in 1919 , where he taught for 21 years. In 1933 he was appointed rector of the grammar school. In 1940 he moved to the grammar school in Winschoten , in 1949 to the grammar school in Velsen, where he taught until he retired.

In addition to teaching, Brommer was engaged in scientific studies. He wrote works on Platonic philosophy (especially on the theory of ideas ) and translations of Greek tragedies.

Peter Brommer was married to Elsa Koning (1903–1992) since 1927, with whom he had six children.
