Peter Buxmann

Peter Buxmann (* 1964 in Frankfurt am Main ) is professor for business informatics at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Life

Buxmann studied economics with a focus on business informatics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt , where he also received his doctorate. He completed his habilitation after a research and teaching stay at the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. From 2000 to 2004 he was professor for business informatics and information technology at the Technical University of Freiberg before moving to the TU Darmstadt.

Buxmann leads numerous scientific and industry-related research projects and is head of the start-up center HIGHEST (Home of Innovation, GrowtH, EntrepreneurShip and Technology Management) at the TU Darmstadt. He also did various research stays abroad, including longer stays at the University of California, Berkeley , Stanford University and Sophia Antipolis (SAP Research France). As a board member of the House of IT, he is responsible for interdisciplinary research and networking between business and science. His main research interests are the digitization of economy and society, methods and applications of artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and the development of innovative business models as well as the value of data. In cooperation with the radio station hr-iNFO, the value of data on the one hand and the impact on the privacy of internet users on the other hand are being examined as part of the project “The Price of Free”.
