His parents were the Prussian general Ernst Ludwig von Goetze (1697–1745) and his wife Maria Dorothea Schlueter (1716–1755) from Rathenow .

Military career

In 1758 he came to the Infantry Regiment No. 36 (Münchow) as a private corporal . During the Seven Years' War it was captured in battle by Maxen , but was soon exchanged again. On January 4, 1759 he was ensign and on August 11, 1763 Seconde-Lieutenant . Then he came on June 16, 1764 as quartermaster lieutenant in the quartermaster staff in Potsdam . On June 8, 1775, he was sent to West Prussia with reconnaissance missions . During the War of the Bavarian Succession he was in the king's entourage. On June 9, 1783 he became a captain and company commander in Grenadier Battalion No. 4 (Klingsporn). There he became major on December 2, 1786 and lieutenant quartermaster on January 17, 1787. During the campaign in Holland he was appointed to the staff of the Duke of Brunswick . He earned well and on March 16, 1787 received a salary of 2000 thalers. For his behavior in combat near Amstelveen he received the Pour le Mérite on October 1, 1787 and on October 24, 1787 promoted to lieutenant colonel . On June 14, 1789, he became a colonel , and he also came to Constantinople as a trainer to train the Turkish army in the Prussian style . With him came the lieutenants von Schmidt and von Scholten . The mission lasted until January 21, 1792 when he returned from Turkey and was appointed Brigadier of the West Prussian Fusilier Brigade. On August 27, 1792 he was on his way to Constantinople again, but this time he returns on January 9, 1793 and is put on the field budget. His salary was increased to 3,000 thalers on April 22nd, 1793. In the First Coalition War he fought at the siege of Mainz, in the battle of Weitzenburg and was wounded near Schierhöhle. On January 12, 1794, he was appointed major general and on March 21, 1794, Infantry Regiment No. 19 got him as chief.

He took part in the campaign in Poland in 1794, but on September 14, 1794 his old wound broke open again and had to return, from the king he nevertheless received the Order of the Red Eagle . On January 18, 1796, he was posted to support the commandant of Berlin - General von Braun . On December 26th, he himself became the commandant of Berlin, which earned him an allowance of 600 thalers.

On May 20, 1800 he was promoted to lieutenant general (patent dated May 26, 1800). As such, he was seconded to the Duke of Braunschweig's corps on November 25, 1805 and came to Hildesheim . General von Dielhert then became the commandant of Berlin. But the lieutenant general died in Berlin on February 15, 1806 and was buried a little later - on February 18, 1806 - in the governor's vault of the garrison church.
