Peter Chen (chemist)

Peter Chen (* 1960 in Salt Lake City ) is an American chemist and professor of physical-organic chemistry .

Career

Chen studied at the University of Chicago until 1982 . He received his PhD from Yale University in 1987 . In 1988 he became assistant professor at Harvard University in Cambridge , from 1991 associate professor. Three years later , he was appointed to the ETH Zurich , where he became a full professor. From 2007 to 2009 he was Vice President for Research and Corporate Relations on the ETH Executive Board.

Chen played a key role in making ETH Zurich part of the Climate-KIC consortium. a. said that we should be judged not only on academic work, but also “on our ambition to act on problems on the scale of climate change. [...] This cannot be achieved without partners from the public and private sectors. "

Chen was a member of the Clariant Board of Directors from 2006 to 2018 .
