Peter Crill

Sir Peter Leslie Crill (born February 1, 1925 - October 2, 2005 ) was the Bailiff of Jersey from 1986 to 1995 .

Life

Peter Crill served as Secretary of State for the Channel Islands in the 1950s and Senator for the Channel Islands in the 1960s, as well as a Supreme Court Justice for the Channel Islands Jersey and Guernsey . From 1986 to 1995 he was Head of Government of Jersey, the so-called "Bailiff of Jersey". He was succeeded by Sir Philip Bailhache .

On July 2, 1987, he was ennobled as a Knight Bachelor and on December 31, 1994 as Knight Commander in the Order of the British Empire .

The "Sir Peter Crill Award" for art has existed since February 2002.

Crill died in 2005 after a long and serious illness.
