Peter Dörfler (director)

Peter Dörfler (born February 24, 1967 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German film director , cameraman , screenwriter , production manager and video artist .

Life

Dörfler studied from 1987 to 1995 at the Offenbach am Main University of Design . During this time he was a cameraman and director of various short films. After graduating, he moved to Berlin and has since worked as a cameraman for commercials, music videos, TV trailers , documentaries and feature films.

Since 2001 he has also worked as a video artist. He made his debut as a documentary film director in 2006 with Der Panzerknacker . His second documentary rollercoaster about the showman Norbert Witte was shown at the Berlinale in 2009 and was awarded the German Film Critics' Prize 2009 (best documentary). His third directorial work, the documentary The Big Eden about the life of Rolf Eden , was also presented at the Berlinale in 2011 and was nominated for the German Film Prize in 2012 as best documentary film.
