Peter Fischer (born January 11, 1930 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association . He played there for BSG Progress Meerane and SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt .

Athletic career

In the 1953/54 season, Fischer made his debut in the GDR league with the promoted progress Meerane. The Meeraner were able to hold out in the elite league for two seasons. During this time 54 point games were played, Fischer played 51 games. In the 1953/54 season he was the top scorer of his team with 15 goals and landed third in the league goalscorer list. 1954/55 came relegated Meerane only 13 goals, with seven goals Fischer scored more than half.

Four game days before the end of the 1956 season, which was played in a calendar year rhythm for the first time, Fischer played his first game for SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt. In the Oberliga game on October 14th SC Motor - SC Rotation Leipzig (2-0) he was used as a half-left striker and successfully introduced himself with his goal to 2-0. He was also used in the rest of the league games of the season, but could not score another goal. In 1957, Fischer was part of the Karl Marx townspeople's regular squad from the start of the season . Coach Walter Fritzsch continued to use him as a striker for ten games . However, Fischer only managed one goal, and since the team had to be changed due to the loss of three regular players in the second half of the season, he was converted into a midfielder. In this way he came in 1957 to 24 league stakes and four goals, but the SC Motor was relegated to the first GDR league .

The new coach Fritz Wittenbecher tried it in the second division season 1958 with Fischer again as a striker, but when Hans Höfer took over the team after the 8th matchday, Fischer moved back into midfield. In this season he did not score a goal, and since the entire team lacked accuracy, they relegated again within a year and had to play third-rate in the 2nd GDR league in 1959 . Coach Höfer tried again at the beginning with Fischer in the attack, but before the end of the first half of the season he was back in midfield for the rest of the season. The SC Motor managed to return to the first GDR league immediately. The 1961/62 league season, which ran over 39 rounds due to the return to the summer-spring rhythm, started with Fischer as a 31-year-old. With only eleven matches he lost his regular place, from the 20th matchday on he was no longer used in the first team. While SC Motor was able to celebrate its return to the league, Fischer said goodbye to competitive football in GDR football after more than 100 league games for SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt and a total of 79 GDR league appearances with 27 goals.
