Peter Fröhlicher

Peter Fröhlicher (born September 3, 1949 in Zurich ) is a Swiss Romance philologist .

Fröhlicher received his doctorate in 1981 with a thesis on Guillaume Apollinaire . In 1989 he completed his habilitation at the University of Zurich with a thesis on Julio Cortázar . From 1991 to 1996 he was Professor of French and Spanish Literature at the University of Konstanz . From 1996 to 2001 he was President of the Swiss Society for Semiotics and is a founding member of the Zurich Competence Center for Hermeneutics. He has been a member of the Swiss Science and Technology Council since 2008, Vice Dean since 2009, and Dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zurich since 2011.
