Peter Frederik Rosing

Johan Peter Frederik Rosing (born December 14, 1940 in Aasiaat ; † May 30, 2011 ) was a Greenlandic journalist , director , writer and translator . He was the broadcaster and director of Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa (KNR).

Life

Peter Frederik Rosing was the son of the politician, teacher, translator and writer Nikolaj Rosing (1912–1976) and his wife Marie Ane Bodil Lynge (1911–2008). Through his mother he is a grandson of National Councilor Niels Lynge (1880–1965). His younger brother is the politician Hans Pavia Rosing (1948–2018).

He graduated from secondary school in 1959 and began an apprenticeship as a sound engineer at the newly founded KNR. He discovered journalism for himself and began studying at Journalisthøjskolen . In 1970 he returned to Greenland after successfully completing his degree and was hired for the radio news. There he became editor-in-chief in 1976 and finally radio chairman in 1980. From 1988 to 1994 he was head of information at the government, after which he returned as news editor and in 1995 became head of the culture and entertainment department. Most recently he was director of the KNR from 1998 to 2001.

As a writer, he wrote together with Marianne Stenbæk in 1999 the anniversary book for the 40th birthday of the KNR, Radiormiut ( German  Die Menschen vom Radio ), a memory book for his uncle Ulrik (1925–1995) and in 2008 a detailed biography of Jonathan Motzfeldt .

In 2012 he received the Frederik Nielsen Writer's Commemoration Award from the Greenland Writers' Association.

Peter Frederik Rosing was married to Anne Sofie Lennert. He died on May 30, 2011 at the age of 70 after a long history of cancer.
