Peter Friedrich Engstfeld

Peter Friedrich Engstfeld (born June 6, 1793 in Heiligenhaus ; † October 4, 1848 in Duisburg ) was a German organist and hymn poet .

Life

Engstfeld was the son of a copper engraver. Even during his school days, he started an apprenticeship with his father. This enabled Engstfeld to become an assistant at the Lutheran parish school in Elberfeld after graduating from school .

At the age of 18 he was called to teach at the Lutheran school in Duisburg in 1811 . There he was later entrusted with the office of organist of the Salvatorkirche. He held these offices until the end of his life.

Peter Friedrich Engstfeld died on October 4th, 1848 in Duisburg at the age of 55.
