Peter Greif (born October 1, 1902 in Konz ; † January 5, 1933 in Ehrang ) was chairman of the KPD local group Ehrang and a German resistance fighter; he was shot by the SA in 1933 .

Life

On New Year's Eve 1932/33 there were violent clashes between National Socialists and Communists in Ehrang , during which an SA man drew a weapon and fired several times. Peter Greif was shot in the stomach while caring for a wounded man. He succumbed to his injuries a few days later in the Marien Hospital in Ehrang.

The suspect escaped and was arrested a short time later. There was no negotiation because on January 30, 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor and the National Socialists took over power . The KPD was banned by the Reich President's decree for the protection of the German people on February 4, 1933. The perpetrator was never brought to justice; all documents about the police investigation had disappeared after the end of the war.

Peter Greif, a gardener by trade, left a wife and three children.
