Peter Hübner (historian)

Peter Huebner (born November 12, 1944 in Apolda ) is a German historian.

Life

Hübner studied history and sociology at the University of Leipzig from 1965 to 1969 and received his doctorate there in 1972 on the subject of "Social and political changes in the working class in the GDR from 1949 to 1955". From 1972 to 1990 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for History of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in Berlin. In 1988, Hübner completed his PhD B ( habilitation ) on the subject of "Social interests in everyday workers' life during the transition period - case studies on the social history of the working class in the GDR".

From 1996 to 2009 he worked as a research assistant at the Center for Contemporary History Potsdam, where he has been an associated researcher since reaching retirement age.
