Peter Haas (born May 14, 1940 in Schwarzrheindorf ) is a German author of dialect texts, essays and translations.

Life

Haas was born on May 14, 1940 in Schwarzrheindorf, today Bonn-Beuel . He has lived in Troisdorf since 1951 . Here he was co-founder and headmaster (1988 to 2002) of the comprehensive school Europaschule Troisdorf. Haas was a co-founder of the Troisdorf picture book museum and from 1977 to 1999 city councilor. As part of his political activities, he was chairman of the cultural committee (1980 to 1989 and 1992 to 1999) and mayor of Alt-Troisdorf, today Troisdorf-West and Troisdorf-Mitte . From 2004 to 2007 he was chairman of the Troisdorf Home and History Association; since 2007 he has been a member of the board.

Services

As a co-founder of the first comprehensive school in the Rhein-Sieg district and the picture book museum, which is unique in Europe, Haas had a great influence on cultural and educational policy as well as the development of the city. “He has always had a deep connection with the region and the people who live there. As a mediator and role model, he has achieved outstanding results, ”said the deputy chairwoman of the Rhineland Regional Council Corinna Beck from the district government, paying tribute to the work of Peter Haas.

On January 7, 1999, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. He is also a holder of the Rhineland Taler , the Order of Merit in Gold from the Regional Association of the Federation of German Carnival and Dr. humoris causa of the Carnival Society Troisdorf Altstädter. In March 2005, Haas was honored with an entry in the city of Troisdorf's Golden Book.
