Peter Haas (* 1754 [baptized on April 26, 1754] in Copenhagen , † after 1804 probably in Berlin ) was a German engraver .

Life

Haas was one of the sons of the engraver Jonas Haas , who moved to Copenhagen shortly before the birth of Peter Haas. He learned copper engraving from his father and studied at the Art Academy in Copenhagen from 1773 to 1776. He stabbed illustrations for numerous books, such as the Arab travel by Carsten Niebuhr and portraits. From 1786 he can be traced back to Berlin together with his brother, the copper engraver Meno Haas . In Berlin he engraved pictures from the life of King Frederick the Great and portraits as well as cityscapes of Berlin. His brother Georg Haas remained active as a copper engraver in Copenhagen.
