Peter Haenger (* 1960 ) is a Swiss historian .

Life

Peter Haenger studied history, sociology and ethnology at the University of Basel . He wrote his licentiate thesis in 1989 on The Basler Mission in the area of ​​tension between attempts at African integration and European colonial policy (unpublished). In 1996 he received his doctorate in Basel with a thesis on slavery and slave emancipation in West Africa. He works as a teacher at the high school in Muttenz and as a freelance historian. His research focuses on the colonial history of Africa and the social and economic history of Basel in the 19th and 20th centuries.
