Peter Heinrich von Stralendorf , Baron von Goldebee (* 1580 - October 18, 1637 ) was Vice Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire .

Life

He came from the old Mecklenburg noble family von Stralendorff and was the son of Imperial Vice Chancellor Leopold von Stralendorf and Margareta, née. from Dernbach . At the age of 10 he received a canonical at Lübeck Cathedral on December 10, 1590 , which he gave up in 1609.

Stralendorf embarked on a similar career with the support of his father. In 1605 he was appointed Reichshofrat . He was considered one of the best experts on imperial law.

In 1624 Ferdinand II appointed him Reich Vice Chancellor and Privy Councilor. He held this position until his death. In addition, he was temporarily vice-president of the Reichshof Council. Several times he was on the road as an agent in the territories of the Roman Empire. He performed these tasks despite a severe gout disease .

He was considered particularly pious and never married. He made his loyalty to the Catholic cause and to the emperor clear by contributing 36,000 ducats for the conduct of the Thirty Years' War . He was a representative of the Bavarian party at the imperial court and an opponent of Wallenstein . After the battle on White Mountain and the suppression of the Bohemian uprising , he was officially part of the commission that worked out the new absolutist constitution, the Renewed Bohemian Land Order , which came into force in 1627 .

The emperor made him count. Without descendants, however, the title expired after Stralendorf's death.
