Peter Held (table tennis player)

Peter Held (born October 29, 1937 ) is a German table tennis player . He took part in the 1959 World Cup.

Career

Held played for Eintracht Frankfurt around 1960 .

In 1959 he was nominated for the individual competitions of the World Cup in Dortmund. Here he was eliminated in the first round against Adalbert Rethi (Romania). The doubles with Matthäus Thurmaier won against Erik Petersen / Harry Wiingard (Denmark) and then lost to the Chinese Bingquan Hu / Yin-ShengHsu.

At the Hessian championships he won the doubles title in 1960/61 with his club mate Wolf Berger .

In 1962 he took part in the individual competitions at the 1962 European Championships in West Berlin. In singles he reached the third round after bye and a win against Hans Jell (Austria), where he lost to Zeljko Hrbud (Yugoslavia). In doubles with Wolf Berger he defeated Franz Kollman / Sporer (Austria), but the Swedes Hans Alsér / Tony Larsson were then too strong.

In July 1965, Held moved to the Austrian state league club Badener AC . He was the first foreign table tennis player in Austria. Here he stayed until the end of his studies at the University of Vienna, which he graduated with a degree in business administration, to join Borussia Düsseldorf in 1967 . In 1966 he won the B group of the Austrian championship (in the A group he was not allowed to start as a foreigner).
