Peter Heller (Germanist)

Peter Heller (born January 11, 1920 in Vienna ; † November 7, 1998 in Williamsville ) was an American German scholar of Austrian origin.

Life

In 1951 he received his doctorate with the dissertation Ideology of Six German Authors 1918-1933 . From 1951 to 1954 he was a teacher at Harvard University . In 1956 he became an associate ( full from 1959) professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst . From 1968 to 1991 he taught as Professor of German and Comparative Literature at the State University of New York at Buffalo .
