Siberian Tatars

Siberian Tatars are called in Russia the Tartars living in Western Siberia , who are counted among the Turkic peoples .

About 500,000 Tatars live in Siberia, with 200,000 probably belonging to the Siberian Tatars, the rest are, for example, Volga-Ural Tatars who have retreated to Western Siberia.

The Siberian Tatars live in islands scattered throughout Western Siberia and are divided into further subgroups:

They are descendants of the core population of the Sibir Khanate .

Islam is widespread as a religion , some adhere to natural religions.

As is often the case with names for ancient ethnic groups, there are and were different names.
